Forest and wood festival

14th and 15th of October 2023

We are currently preparing the program for October 2023. In the meantime, here is the information from the previous edition!

For the 6th edition of the forest and wood festival, come and discover or rediscover the forest as a family all in one weekend!

 

New in 2022:

Author, Mickaël Brun-Arnaud « Mémoires de la forêt : Les souvenirs de Ferdinand Taupe » published by l’ecole des loisirs will be in attendance.

Writing workshop « J’écris mon histoire au coeur de la forêt »,  (“I write my story in the heart of the forest”) Reading and dedications.

Illustration workshop run by illustrator Sanoë (Sunday).

Presentation of “tiny houses” by the company Henri based in St Cyr sur Loire.

Exhibition of homemade log cabins for children entered for the competition organised by Michel Thiellin.

 

To enter to the competition, design and construct your own log cabin at home (2m x 2m approx.).
Cabins need to be transported to La Bourdaisière for the festival – possibility of transport by us within a radius of 10 km from La Bourdaisière, if the cabin fits in our lorry. Please contact us first.
To be won: one night’s stay for two people at La Bourdaisière, breakfast included!

  • Manufacture of wooden swords (from 7 years old) with Julien Colboc, sculptor and trainer in green woodworking – No prior reservation is possible and places are limited.
  • Orienteering challenge in the forest, prepared by Faites vos jeux – Julien Ott.

Entertainment for both young and old

Storytelling stroll through the forest narrated by Jean-François Talon at 10:30am, 2:30pm and 4:30pm.

Magic shows by Mandragore at 11am, 2pm, 4pm and 5 pm.

Guided educational walks in the heart of the Bourdaisière forest with ONF forestry experts (national forestry board).

Talk by Michel Druilhe “The forest at the service of the reconstruction of Notre Dame de Paris” on Saturday at 3pm and Sunday at 2:30pm.

Presentation of woodworking trades.

Trumpeters.

 

Sports and manual activities in and around the forest

Land Art workshops: making leaf prints in clay with the ONF (national forestry board), and cabin building in the forest with Réginald Roussel.

Archery on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, with the CAVL of Montlouis sur Loire (from 8 years old).

Origami flower workshop Saturday and Sunday at 3pm. with Mandragore.

Giant wooden games, quizzes and many other activities!

On-site restauration

Lunch – Saturday and Sunday:

Banquet in the forest with the presence of  “Cave aux fouées d’Amboise” who will provide “fouées” (local small bread stuffed)

Price: 22 € per person, (excluding drinks).

Tea room: drinks, savoury tarts and cakes.

 

Dinner – Saturday 15th October 2022:

Reservation in advance by telephone +33 2 47 45 16 31 (prepayment required).

6pm: Screening of a film.

8pm: Dinner in the chateau’s cellars.

45 € per adult, (drinks and film included).

20 € per child (under 12 years old).

Single price: 5 € per person, free for children under 10.

During the festivals, the access to the exhibiton “Draw me your planet” is closed !

12 km from Tours and Amboise – 7 km from the TGV train station – Saint-Pierre-des-Corps TGV (55 minutes by TGV from Paris)

ENTRY FEES

Full price: €7.50

Reduced price: €5.50: unemployed persons, students, Montlouis residents, groups of more than 20 people. (Proof required).

FREE for children under 10 years old.

Free parking.

Picnics are not allowed.
